Parent and Teacher Workshops | |
'It all starts with the adult in the room' Well-Edu wellbeing workshops are designed to help adults in both homes and external settings learn to manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. Our workshops cover topics that support adults to build a toolbox of techniques and improve resilience, effective management of emotions and a positive growth mindset for personal development. Importantly, a key and unique feature of this programme is training to enable adults to use these skills to help the children and young people in their lives. This improves relationships, the home and school environment and provides nurturing care for when our future generation needs it the most. Well-Edu will identify, and work with, professionals and families who have a direct influence on the most disadvantaged youth. A particular focus will be on reaching those in areas of deprivation where the risk of teenagers becoming 'Not in Education, Employment or Training', being impacted by mental health difficulties and aggravating factors such as low income, reduced access to resources and high rates of crime, is more prevalent. By providing this support, we aim to reduce the growing mental health crisis among young people in Kent whilst equipping the adults around them with the tools they need to better support emotional, personal and academic achievement to secure a more positive future. Well-Edu is also passionate about the issues surrounding the mental health and retention of staff in education. This has a disproportionate impact on families identified as living in deprived areas due to the additional stressors and lack of funding that add to the difficulties of staff recruitment. We aim to address this issue by arming educators with tools to prevent mental health decline, provide a support network and improve the environments and relationships that they work in.
